She's a cheerleader. She once got angry at me because her art teacher made a reference to holodecks and none of her friends got it, but she did, and it was only because I'd watched TNG in the same room as her when she was sick.
Having knowledge of damn near anything should rarely if ever be discouraged and it's a shame so many people feel that way. It sounds like she's essentially the sort of person that not knowing many of these things isn't terribly odd about though, to answer your question.
