RPGs are pretty one sided if you count Japan only releases but if it's only US it's closer. Phantasy Star and Shining Force are notable, at least. Genesis loses either way but it's not a smackdown if you only count US releases!

But they are facing FF IV and VI, CT, Secret of Mana, Ogre Battle, Earthbound, and Lufia II.
