I sit to pee as well. The reasoning make so much sense, it is more respectful overall.
1. I like to be clean. No matter how good your aim is, stray droplets will make their way onto the toilet seat or on the side and someone else will have to deal with it, unless you want to deal with it every time, whether you think you make a mess or not.
2. It isn't noisy. I have not yet lived in a place where the whole house couldn't hear you pee. It is awkward when I have friends over and my roommate pees and everyone can hear. Why does everyone need to know what is going on in there?
3. Sitting is therapeutic. Nobody bothers you in the washroom, so I like to just sit there and relax rather than stand and worry about making a mess or making my roommate feel uncomfortable.
I know the noise is accepted by people, but it shouldn't be :P
