Hey didn't Robin Williams back out of Return of Jafar because Disney used his voice in a commercial when it showed the talking Genie toy in the commercial actually talking or something, and he was all mad because he doesn't do commercials or whatever?
Well then how do you explain that Ocarina of Time 3D commercial he did with his daughter?
He got mad because he was promised that the Genie wouldn't be the focal point of the advertising of the movie, since it was going to be coming out at the same time as his other movie, Toys. They completely ignore him and based most of the advertising around his name and the Genie, which pissed him off.
Anyway, I always found it to be a double-standard how everybody complained about Disney sequels, except for the ones they saw as a child. Everyone was whining about how the Disney "cheapquels" were just uninspired attempts to make more money, yet they had a lot of good talent working on them, people who respected the original movies and wanted to stay true to them while giving the fans the continuing stories they wanted. The fact that they sold well was the clearest sign that there were plenty of people who enjoyed them and wanted them, and yet the complainers won out in the end. Despite the fact there really isn't any difference between Return of Jafar and any of the other sequels besides nostalgic bias.
