I sensed, rather than saw the weaknesses in my prismatic shield.
That split second, that one split second of head start caused the Hellfire Orb to miss me by a mere hair's length.

Columns of magically formed mithril rose and formed a grate between me and my attacker. I quickly rounded the corner and crouched underneath a low overhang, trying to catch my breath. I slowly drew out a rejuvenation index and placed it on the back of my neck. I felt the warmth and vitality spread throughout my body.
"What a waste of energy, if you would only come along quietly I wouldn't have to cast this many spells and you get to rest forever right here. There are already coffins here anyway! No one would have to pay for your funeral either."
I heard a high pitched screeching noise reverberating from around the corner seconds after the cloaked man stopped talking. Damn, that should have held him for another minute.
"It's impressive that a two bit mage such as yourself can do that. But if running is all you can do... then..."
