5. For Good (Elphaba & Glinda)

This entry may upset the two people following this thread, but let it be known that everything in the top five is amazing, and For Good just happens to land in fifth because it's a bit too repetitive towards the end without being the kind of repetitive that you can sing along with. Anyway, this is a really powerful song, because it's the last time Glinda gets to see Elphaba before she (Elphy) "dies". These are two girls who have grown to be close friends through the course of the show, and Glinda KNOWS that it's all because of her inability to stand up for what's right that Elphaba is being hunted, and will soon be killed. Elphaba, even knowing she's going to die, still manages to make amends with Glinda and basically tells her to avenge her death, basically forcing Glinda to grow a backbone and truly stand up for herself for the first time in the show, not allowing her to just float whichever way the wind blows in hopes that things will work out. It's a really good exchange, and it's heartfelt and emotional. It's a great way to end act two (which unfortunately, "Finale" ruins completely by killing any and all momentum).
