it's not just portal as much as the whole genre that suffers a lot of it. i feel a lot of puzzle games are overrated; like sure they have their charm, there's this 'ohhh that's what i need to do!' or 'that's what it was!' kind of feel, or other times it's just frustrating, but at the end of the day it's become this extremely oversaturated market for indie developers to work on, some with cool ideas mind you, but so many just make you go 'if i wanted to play a puzzle game i'd play X, Y, or Z."
