well it's not like 'WoW like' means much beyond "it plays like an MMO" really. there's only so much you can do there.though i'll admit that i haven't played an MMO in ages, and if you don't count crappy korean games then probably never.
There are games that predate WoW that don't play very much like WoW. EVE Online, for instance, has a very different focus from WoW (but EVE is very similar to older games like Ultima Online). WoW itself is basically a branch off of the Everquest style of MMO.
And yeah, a lot of MMOs recently have tried to copy WoW.
