Your first stop is the cinderblock wall above the bed. You want that extra battery. You get up onto the bed slab and reach into your bag. You pull out the screwdriver that you stashed previously. It’s a flathead, so you don’t have much trouble getting the block out a few inches. In your attempt at prying the block out however, you break the screwdriver. The shaft clangs to the ground while the handle remains in your hand. You aren’t worried about it though. You’ve given yourself enough room to get your fingers around the side of the block.

You pull the block out and gently place it on the bed slab. Working quickly, you pull the battery out of the hole and place it in the device. It begins to glow its familiar glow. You put it back in your pocket and put the cinderblock back in place. You get up from the bed and head over to the door.

Everytime you get to this point, you worry that you might not hear Sarah respond; that it might be someone else. You think about the last time you saw her was on the roof, and vow to finally make it out of the building with her. You press the intercom button. You have a plan to make things easier.

“Hello?” you say, crossing your fingers that the voice that responds is Sarah.

“What do you want?” the familiar female voice responds.

“I think you might wanna come up here and check this out. Something isn’t right.”

“What -” You cut her off.

“Just get up here, quick.” you say. You’re pretty confident in your plan.

You wait a moment, eventually hearing footsteps approaching the metal door. The slat on the door opens and you see Sarah staring back at you. “What is it?”

“Sarah Jurick, right? My name is... well, I’m Subject Alameda. Project Flux. I know you know who am I and what I can do.” You speak quickly and calmly. “You’ve helped me in the past. The doctor, Dr. Leonard, he wants to kill me, and he’ll kill you too if you don’t listen to me.”

“What is... what are you talking about?”

“Sarah, listen. You know what happens when I press this button.” You hold up the device so she can see it. “I know I don’t have to explain it to you more. You know what Project Flux is. You know that the project was shut down 30 years ago, but I’m here now. I’m real. How else could I have gotten in here. You have to believe me, Sarah.”

Sarah says nothing for a moment. “Look, Dr. Leonard wouldn’t...” she says, trailing off.

“He does Sarah. He will. Whatever you do, don’t call him. I know you were about to. How else could I know this? Please Sarah, you have to help me get out of here. I’m not a prisoner, I’m a human being.” You finish with your condensed explanation. If that doesn’t convince her, you don’t know what else will.

Sarah seems to sympathize with you. “I believe you, I do. I’ve read the files on Project Flux. I’ve seen the pictures, your information, the background. Dr. Leonard would kill me if he knew I was snooping around his office.” She says through the slat. “But... you’re right. You being here doesn’t make any sense, and I guess that’s proof enough. Plus, if what you said it true about Dr. Leonard, I guess it would be in my best interest to help you. What do you want me to do?”

You’re almost amazed by how easy it was to convince her. “I need you to let me out of here, and then I need you to help me.”

The slat closes quickly. You hear numbers being entered into the keypad, and then the sound of the lock disengaging. The door opens, and you are once again looking at Sarah. “What do we do first?”

A) “I need a change of clothes.”
B) “Can you get me into the armory?.”
C) "We're going to the supply room."
D) “We need to get out of the building.”
E) “Tell me more about Dr. Leonards office.”
