for someone who is acquiring the sets (of the actual cards), what's the best order to get them in? i figure base then intrigue is the smart way to go, but after that what's the most worthwhile in terms of value for how much you get and value for quality of play? (if you know about the actual sets)
I agree with Para in that the base is the most "boring" compared to Intrigue. It was the first made and so most of the cards are fairly simple: +cards/actions with smaller side-effects. If you're just learning to play, I think it's an easier start than Intrigue. Intrigue is interesting because it offers the player more choice. I personally bought base, Intrigue, Prosperity, Seaside, then Alchemy in that order. I definitely think Alchemy should be saved for later, though.
