You also have to think about the people that feel it is alright just as long as it isn't their family.
I knew parents who said they were okay with gay people, but went nuts when they found that their child was gay.
Eh. I have known plenty of the opposite though: people who had anti-gay views until they had a gay child. People have the views they have, and circumstances may make them change, but this doesn't mean they were lying when they gave the responses they did at the time.
Also surveys like this tend to have anonymity to cut down on the "but but people will think I'm a bigot!" effect. I say "tend to" because I haven't actually looked at this one specifically.
