There's a difference between errata for clarity and errata to make something not stupid.
The change to Kain/Raziel would actually cause a change to the way the merc works. It'd make a lot more sense, but it'd still work fundamentally differently. Revan doesn't work differently it's just to clarify because apparently "shutdown" referring to anti-droid stuff is too big a leap for some people.
