Heh, sorry but not only am I not a huge fan of Rufflet (for the exact reason I'm not a huge fan of Piplup or Torchic) but with the way things have been going I fear it had a slim chance of outranking Braviary (a lá Mienfoo, Tirtouga, Palpitoad, etc.) which is just... no.
If you think about what gets consistently saved first, then I think that's a bit of an unfounded fear. Braviary is consistently saved long before Rufflet is, so I really don't see Rufflet being able to compete with Braviary at all. It's just sad that three people tried to save Rufflet but were just too late. Maybe me not saving Emboar would have changed things...
While that may be true, strange things tend to happen. People might be fooled by a pokémon's perceived popularity and protect weaker favorites at the expense of "stronger" ones. If you had told me a month ago that Mienshao and Carracosta would ultimately fall before their respective prevos, I'd have laughed in your e-face. Thing about Carracosta is it would fluctuate between being among the first saved and among the last saved depending on who was present and how they chose to spend their votes while Tirtouga was consistently among the last saved. Carracosta had the better chance of going farther and I flubbed it up and don't want to see that sort of thing happen again.
PLUS, like I said, I'm not a Rufflet fan anyway while I am a fan of Frills. For me it was an easy choice.
