I suppose you're right, but that just points out how bad the wording of this thing is. The form has us fill out "protagonist" and "antagonist." That got me into something of a different mindset than rivals. Catherine is clearly the antagonist of the story. If you disagree, you don't know what an antagonist is.
I agree with you though. It really should just say "Rival 1" and "Rival 2."
