I don't see how it is "alpha" to sit around listening to someone chatter about an ex and then only take off once she goes around the corner.
I don't know about "alpha" but it's certainly funnier.
If you just leave in the middle of dinner then she knows right away what happened.
If you leave her when she goes behind a corner then when she comes back she has to search for a bit and be confused for a while before coming to the same conclusion.
