Ermine i'm not as familiar with you as I am the other 3 so when I ask for tips from high level players I tend to forget about you. Plus you always decline our invites to games and it makes me a sad panda. Anywho, any tips for Support Zilean? My laning phase is fine. I open with Charm, 3 wards, and 2 potions. At 5 minutes I ward dragon and triangle brush depending on who the jungler is and how dominant we are in lane. I then spend the next Ten to Fifteen minutes bombing the Hell out of everything moving. Where i'd like a few tips is the post laning phase.
There's only one reason to pick support Zilean in high level play really. Like, for low levels, he can pressure the lane really well and make it difficult for the other AD and support but realistically, if you are against another decent bottom lane, it'll be harder. Post laning phase is all about landing your ultimate. Hotshot said it best on his stream a little while back. The reason why Zilean is one of the best champs in the game right now is because of his ultimate. But unless you are really good at landing it, you are almost a detriment to your team. By clicking the wrong person, or just using it incorrectly, you can bait your team into fights or ruin a fight that you would have normally won had you ulti'd correctly.
This whole reason is pretty much why mid lane Zilean is BETTER than support Zilean. Because his ulti is going to revive that champion to full rather than just 1/3rd or half that a support Zilean would. To be honest, he's not THAT great as a support in high level play, but he is still fun and can help dominate a lane if the enemy duo slips up a little.
