I think ambient is just his word for music he interprets more as background music than something that is obviously trying to catch attention, even if it is not an accurate description. I shouldn't speak for him though, why did I just do that twice in a row?...sorry if I came off as mean in these two posts.
Nah, I know what the difference between ambient and background music is, I was just using a different definition of ambient from the usual - that is, talking about Ryoshima Plains as a 'setting' theme.
