-The over-reliance on spirit medium mumbo jumbo in this story opens a ton of holes. Couldn't Phoenix prove Ini was dead by having Pearl or Maya channel her spirit? Couldn't we channel the doctor and ask him what he saw? I could understand if the court were suspicious of all this, but they seemed to take it all at face value in this case.
This was either sort of explained in the first game or will be later on. I can't remember when exactly it comes up.
But basically it's because of some shenanigans that happened in the past with spirit channelers in one of the past court cases...
