"The only hope of survival for the human race is to once again be reunited under one ruler, as Lugovalos once did! Now come, cease your futile resistance and accept Lugovalos as your rightful ruler! THA SINN LUGOVALOS! THA SINN AN SÍORAÍ SÚIL! "
As if Yuri didn't have enough problems already, but somehow that nutjob managed to force his broadcast over all the communication channels, no matter which frequency they used. It made coordinating his 5-ship fleet that much harder, with that irritating voice interrupting every now and then
"Grus," Yuri turned and saw his Security Chief, Torlo Adkin, "won't this guy ever shut up? Where did he come, from, anyway?"
A good question. Yuri had only been a week away from the old planet Earth when he came under attack from this new emperor's fleet, mostly composed of Lugovalian ships. What's odd is that it should be impossible for ANY ships to be here, other than the ones in Yuri's fleet and the other ships owned by survivors of the strike force to the Original Warpgate, and these ships are definitely new to Yuri.
"Emperor Taranis did have access to the portal ships, Epona and Abdaba, so these are probably military remnants from the Lugovalos homeworld using the same tech. But there's far more important things to focus on." True to his word, after answering Torlo's most likely rhetorical question, Yuri focused on the battlefield once more. They were currently on board Yuri's flagship, the Absoluta-class NIA LOCHLAIN, which has evaded all enemy fire and is in perfect condition. So far at least. Checking the status on the other ships showed what Yuri feared, they were fighting a losing battle. Both the Evstafi and the Picaroon are under heavy fire, and despite being the bulkiest of his ships, they won't last forever. The Haruul and the Corsair aren't doing very well, either, and he just can't find an opening to use his High Stream Blasters.
"Yuri, this isn't getting us anywhere! This is the fifth Battleship we've taken down already!" Yuri heard Tatiana's voice, the head officer of the Control crew, amidst the chaos on the bridge, and she's right. Usually the enemy's flagship was obvious, and the one most protected, but there were several valid targets, and so far, none of them were the correct ones. Well, panicking never helped anyone.
"Everyone, calm down! We've gotten through worse situations before," well, technically speaking, that was true, but he had backup from the Regeinlandic Fleet in those days. " and we'll get out of this one just like then. We just need to focus on evading all enemy fire while Alik-"
"Captain! I've found it! The enemy's flagship is the Nehalenia-class in this sector!" Yuri turned to Alik at the sound of his voice, his 1st Officer and strategist, and Alik nodded towards the chart. Yuri studied it.
"Great work! Now's the time for our counterattack. All Hands, prepare for Formation Foe under Alik's command! Beleko and Fomich, clear a path, then the other ships can finish off the rest of the enemy!".
At his command, Yuri's fleet began to move in a strange way, causing the enemy's formation to break apart in an attempt to pursue them. A costly move, as the Corsair and Evstafi finished charging up and fired the High Stream Blasters, destroying what was left of the true flagship's fleet. At that instant, the Absoluta charged straight towards the enemy flagship, and immediately connected to it, ready to be boarded.
