Highly recommend against Monkey Grip - it's really not worth the to-hit penalty you take. A Heavy weapon will do much of the same but probably better.
Other than that, you should start planning out a build path, just in case. Fighter pretty much sucks later on, though it works up until you get Dungeoncrasher.
I have a build path. Check Other Notes. It builds into Kensai. And Monkey Grip with a greatsword is essentially +3 damage on average in exchange for -2 Attack Bonus, which is, at the very worst, slightly inferior to Power Attack.
