I like both stories a lot, and i like that we get to take our pick between stories and settings. Do I prefer Brotherhood better? Yes. But the first 13 episodes are terrible and the music isn't as good. I still like the original series a lot. I don't know why people can't like both.
I love the original. Especially the ending episodes (and the movie).
I only hope the ending of brotherhood wraps it up as well as the original one was.
