...uh, honestly it makes sense just due to the consoles really. mgs4 was ps3 only and looks like it'll stay that way (though strangely, no upgraded version exists yet). easy to basically start from scratch with a good spot, and post mgs4 is a fitting one.
sounds uphill to me! platinum games working on anything is always a step up.
