Okay, I watched Gametrailers' review for this game last Monday and somehow, the review gave me nothing but good memories of the game. I know I had serious issues with it when I last played it, but still, just like I thought when I was actually playing it, I stared in disbelief that this game received a 2 out of 5 from someone. At the same time, I couldn't believe that Metroid Prime and even Zero Mission were part of the same franchise.
I agree on the opening cutscene wholeheartedly. I like Samus's voice in this game, but it does sound pretty annoying in the intro - and she has a LONG way to go before catching up with the likes of Leon Kennedy and Sarah Kerrigan in voicework quality. Then again, I like Tails' voice in Sonic Adventure so yeah (same problem there - annoying at times, but overall I'm fine enough). I also know for a fact that "average" voice acting never hurts a game's experience for me that much.
*spoilers*
I like Samus's personality in this game, but she really is made to look bad at times. You have been warned.
One thing saddening: back on Sunday, an episode of "Terra Nova" I watched reminded me far more of Other M than footage from actual Metroid games did. If something isn't wrong there, I don't know what is.
Also I'll admit that I imported the game from America back when it first came out. Pretty pricey, but I feel it was worth it and I don't buy many games anyway. The only game I've bought since Other M was RE4 way back in December 2010 - although to me RE4 is basically what MOM should've been, argh.
