Phoenix flat-out references that a friend of his is still around and sending him Steel Samurai tapes to watch in AJ, so I"m really not sure how that would work if that isn't Maya. Unless it's Pearl, but that's stretching it.
But bad end has Maya survive.
Sure he claims that he doesn't speak to her anymore in the bad end, but a lot can change in, what, eight years?
