It's worth remembering that Batman could probably be a low midcarder just off the Arkham games - remember, Asylum got 40% on Fallout 3, and the second one has, if anything, been received better. Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck and Goofy could probably be not-fodder based just off the Kingdom Hearts series. Can't think of any other examples of non-VG originating characters having independent VG strength though.
Right. I think the range in possible strength is massive. That said, I'm not quite as optimistic as creativename. I realize there's a chance that these characters could be anti-voted and rallied against because they are non-gaming characters on a gaming site. I don't think the odds of this happening are very big (it sure didn't happen on GameSpot), but if it does, the anti-fictional sentiment would be way more powerful than any strength these guys could get from their actual games.
