i had to make life changing decisions when i was almost 18 (career, university, major, etc.); you probably did too. if you're not actually better able to make that sort of decision at 18 than you are at 14, then society certainly at least expects you to be!


Well yeah, but I had decided my career/major when I was 12 or 13.

And tons of my classmates (20-22 years old) have no idea what they want for a major, let alone a career, they are just doing what their advisors/parents tell them to do. And it's not like it's hard to choose a university, you just apply to a bunch of them and then pick the best one that accepted you (and that your parents will pay for).
