What a wacky name for a contest but whatever
Since Rivalry Rumble will probably our last character contest in a while (maybe even last ever? I hope not), I decided to take every character to ever make a character battle (bonus and joke matches not included) and build a bracket with them, so that Board 8 can decide who is its favorite character to ever make a GameFAQs contest.
We've had a whopping 316 characters in these contests, so just building a random bracket from scratch is just not doable, this is why this contest will be divided in several phases:
PHASE I
I put all 316 characters in a list, randomized it, and divided it in 30 groups of 10 characters, and 2 groups of 8 characters. In Phase I, I'll give you a group of 10 characters that you'll have to rank from favorite to least favorite using +10 to +1. Each group will have its own topic, which will be up for approx. 24 hours. Their result in this phase will determine their seeding in the bracket. Don't be disappointed if your favorite character got unlucky and is stuck in a strong group, he'll still make the bracket, he just won't have a top seed...
PHASE II
I'll use each characters' result in their own group to build 5 64-character brackets. This means that we'll have 320 spots, so the 4 characters with the best result in Phase I will have a bye through Round 1, since we only have 316 spots to fill. So we'll get through this bracket using simple 1 on 1 matches, until the five brackets have a winner.
PHASE III
The last phase will be some sort of battle royale between the five winners of each bracket. I'm still not quite sure how I'll handle this one, I'll be open to suggestions when we get to that point.
Sooo..... this should be a pretty fun contest, I'm hoping all works perfectly and that it'll be as fun and interesting as I think it'll be.
