Collier County.

As far as legal precedent precedent goes, well, it's a bit of an extreme case but Jorge is covered by it. He tried to escape, was attacked at the head, was actively trying to avoid harm, and at the last, used deadly force in response.

Legally, there's nothing on him that could be used. Bringing in traumatologists would just help Saavadra's case, who can point out that in the heat of a fight with adrenaline pumping, you are not going to immediately notice a pocket knife wound unless it's to the vital organs.

Ugly build up, ugly situation, ugly outcome. I hope that something decent can come out of this, because it sucks for everyone as it is.

....well, yes, except for the internet. Forget it.

I honestly still don't buy 12 stabs as self-defence, but as has been said it really depends on the nature of said stabs so eh.

If it's a knife that fits in his pocket, one stab that isn't to the vital organs isn't gonna stop people in their tracks. Depending on their mood, it may not even really register to them.

According to the article in OP, only two stabs were actually fatal.

Saavedra attempted to get away once, witnesses said. He then stabbed Dylan Nuno 12 times in the chest and abdomen. Two of the blows caused fatal wounds, including one that nicked his heart.
