Also, markets can get pretty crazy during bubbles. AOL was once valued at over 200B. The stockholders did pretty well though because they bought out Time Warner near the peak of AOL stock's performance, using AOL stock that would have subsequently become near worthless. Time Warner shareholders got shafted though, when they ended up with a minority share in AOL Time Warner, which became, for profit purposes, basically just Time Warner.
