^Are you serious? She's incredibly boring and her motivations for being that way are weak as hell.

Oh... my mother and father told me to behave. That I should be a good, quiet girl... Worst backstory of the Firebending crew, and her romance with Zuko feels awkward and forced. Ty Lee's motivations weren't great either, but compared to Mai's they're like a well-constructed novella. Plus Ty Lee is actually interesting.

Ty Lee isn't interesting in the slightest. The first time she used that bending-blocking power it was decent, I guess. But Azula (and I think Bumi was around during that episode as well) stole the show. After that all she did was act like a poor mans Kitty from X-men Evolution. And Evolution Kitty wasn't exactly good or interesting either.

And wasn't the point of the Zuko/Mai romance was that it was suppose to be awkward. They were both awkward and depressed and hated the world, but they could do all of that together <3. Outside of the Boiling Rock episodes, I didn't like it much either if I'm honest and thought that chick who asked Zuko out on a date in the Earth Kingdom was a much better pairing for him, and to a lesser extent so was scar girl who had the scar on her thigh who liked Zuko despite Zuko having the crappy short hair.

I can't remember Ty Lee's or Mai's backstory so I can't comment on that =(.

I'm pretty indifferent on Mai, but people giving love to Ty Lee and Suki and then going "Mai sucks" just seems silly. In terms of character/development they're all as equally forgettable/uninteresting, but I much prefer Mai's personality to Ty Lee's. Did Suki even have a personality?
