Barboach's name is a combination of barb, referring to the barbs around its mouth, and loach, referring to the species of fish that is similar to Barboach.
Stunfisk is likely a combination of stun and fisk, the word for "fish" in most Northern European languages (from Old English fisk), or a combination of stun, fish, and disk, in reference to its flat shape.
