The stranger was definitely a human. As far as I know, Cleverbot is the most advanced chatting bot out there, simply because it is so popular, so it has had a TON of interactions to learn from. And you can still see the core limitation in Cleverbot... he only pays attention to the last 1 or 2 responses at most, especially. I would say the stranger is human based on his memory alone.
