tbh the whole "hey I just found a magic ability to remove bending" bit felt like a cop out to me.
The consensus of even the most peaceful previous avatars was that when pressed "an Avatar has got to do what an Avatar has got to do". Why should Aang be any different? And then he just gets a brand new never heard of before power in the 11th hour?
I agree completely. I was really interested in how Aang was going to deal with the problem, and then "oh hey here's a perfect solution". It was pretty disappointing.
