What if I don't care about the candidates because it's the voting process that I'm dissatisfied with?

You know, like how if you live in Arkansas, your state is going red no matter what you do and the vote that you cast is just a neat statistic when the Republican takes office even though most people voted for the other guy?
Then I suppose you don't vote but it's hardly some protest against the system. In fact, you are very likely playing into it. Arkansas wants the voters that don't vote the way they like to feel dejected and stay home. It makes sure that nothing ever needs to change.

That's before getting into the fact that your ballot has a lot more than the presidency on it. Votes absolutely matter in the state and local elections and those elections matter. They might very well have more impact on your daily life than the president.

Kansas is a hard red presidency state. Always has been. My votes for previous democratic presidential candidates were largely meaningless because of that, it sucks, and I hate the electoral college because of it. But on those same ballots I also voted for the governor, a Democrat who won, my rep, a Democrat who won, and a whole host of local elections where my vote wasn't meaningless.
