The problem is the exploration in Starfield is broken and it kills a lot of the rest of the game. Like in TES and Fallout a big appeal to the questing is in the exploration and the stories and locations you uncover along the way. Starfield does not have that. Either quests are completely self-contained in small locales (like the cities), or they require you to travel to other locations with zero incentive for sidetracking.

99% of content on planets is copy-paste "farm" or "science outpost", usually without any unique loot. So unless you like trekking for dozens of hours for repetitive side quests the best way to resolve things is just non-stop fast travel.

They have No Man's Sky-style exploration mechanics (i.e., scanning plants and animals and minerals), but there is not a big variety in any of the things either and it's a bore to do.
