like it matters at all? what a sad fucking story this has been, and the comments just show how completely detached from reality japanese society can be. Like they literally have people saying that "if we use western beauty standards then NO japanese woman could win" ... like that's just straight up saying you think Japanese people are uglier than other people--which, obviously, isn't the case. if anything japanese women tend to be quite attractive my american standards so it's just so totally bizarre. to anyone that can't read between the line: they hated her b/c of race, and that motivated journalists to comb through her private life, discovering the affair, and then publishing it when the intent to basically just ruin this woman's life. --- "The Party told you to reject the evidence of your eyes and ears.
