Republican primary voters are very anti-abortion. This creates a selection effect where republican candidates support policies the general public does not.

But they're a shrinking demographic. Why not just go "eh screw you guys, abortion is cool now" and gain so much more support?

I guess I just don't understand the GOP's unwillingness to adapt. It would solve a lot of their issues.

Like, if they stopped being racist for a minute, they'd recognize the Latino community has very conservative values, for example.
