The delivery fee is paid to the company, not the driver.

the companies get away with this bullshit because the drivers "are not employees" and we, as a society, have just accepted that monumental level of bullshit as okay.
This is also correct. Base pay on DD and Uber deliveries can get as low as $2, so its often not worth the time or gas to even take orders that are that low.

It really should be renamed as a bid since thats actually what it is, not a tip. But as long as these shitty companies and are publicly traded, theyll keep on doing whatever they can to push the burden of every possible dollar down to customers and away from their own stockpile.
