I've always done my best to treat delivery drivers right, but I'm kind of starting to hit a point where they need to at least meet me halfway. I live in a college town, so when I order through a delivery site I'll throw the tracker up on a second monitor and inevitably watch as a driver picks my order, then proceeds to pick up like 10 different orders from surrounding places, then drops them off at a whole bunch of dorms, then inevitably leaves my food lukewarm or cold on my porch. And this is with a personal policy of never tipping less than $7 and tipping 20% on larger orders while specifically never ordering from a place that's more than a 12-minute drive because I feel bad that some of these delivery places will let me order from restaurants that are a half hour away.

The only reason I even use the GPS tracker is because I put a note to please ring the doorbell so I know my food has arrived and most drivers just ignore that, forcing me to actually track my own delivery to make sure I get it when it arrives.

I get that drivers are trying to game the system, but I'm kind of starting to get to that point where I want to put cash tip in the notes and only if you ring the bell, cuz if drivers are going to half-ass my order and drop something off cold no matter how much money I give them that at what point is it fair for me to start giving less?
I've found the only way to combat this is to get the $1-$2 extra 'priority' that way they pickup your order and deliver it first.
