No one said anything about Sentret... point is, the available Pokemon options are complete dogshit before the E4 in this game, and so are the movepools. Gen 1 and other gens have a far wider variety of moves and Pokemon available. Of course it can be cheesed when you know what you're doing, but most kids back then didn't preplan their team and just used what was available.
