I've been playing on a handheld PC for about a year now. It's nearly the most powerful gaming device in the house; my gf's laptop is like maybe 1% more powerful solely due to the better cooling possible in that form factor (basically the same CPU and RAM).

Ryzen 6800U, using the integrated graphics. If you're not familiar with that - the integrated graphics on that CPU are very good. Like, on par with slightly older low end desktop GPUs (1060 or 1650 are common comparisons).

And it does the job just fine. No, I can't turn all the settings up to ultra high max resolution, but I don't feel that I'm missing anything by not being able to do that. I can still enjoy the game just as much at 720p (upscaled to 1080p via FSR) high rather than 4K ultra-high. So far I've been capping the power usage to half its maximum in order to extend battery life, and it *still* has played everything fine so far - many games I was able to cap it at 1/3rd even.

The one thing it can't manage is intensive VR titles, but even then, it comes close (and let me stress again, this is a handheld PC using integrated graphics), so I doubt you need an ultra high end PC for those - just a decent dedicated GPU.

In fairness the only recentish AAA title I've thrown at it is Hitman, but yes, that ran perfectly fine (720p with FSR to 1080p) in non-VR mode. Struggled a fair bit in VR. I'm intending to grab the PC port of Forbidden West when that comes out so that'll be its first really hard test.

And for those wondering why I'd have a VR headset with such a PC - it works perfectly fine for virtual monitors when I want to do desktop-y stuff. VR gaming is just a bonus.
