I think it was the version that I saw of Julius Ceasar, and the theatre I saw it in: it was a black box-like theater, so a very small crowd right close and personal with the actors. Also had a slightly more "modern" take on it, I think? It's hard to describe, but it was marketed to Millenial hogh school kids. I ended up liking it.

Honestly, I think Othello is one of the greatest plays ever. The racial overtones are really hard to ignore, too, and I think that in today's world it's just as pertinent--if not moreso--than it was in the 16th century.
