For your average adult, piracy is rarely if ever about money, but convenience/accessabillity.

An essential aspect of theft is that it deprives the owner of the item. Stealing an apple from an apple cart for example means the vendor can no longer sell that apple (and on a larger scale could potentially end up starving to death himself). Stealing someone's car deprives them of what is likely an essential mode of transport that can fuck their entire life up.

But downloading a copy of something - literally a set of 1s and 0s - does not do this. The only argument against that is one of spite.
Which isn't necessarily wrong per se, and if you feel that way, fine. Just don't dishonestly try to claim it's the same thing.
