I told myself when I did it that I'd save more money in the long run by buying used games, but I have such a backlog and the monthly PS+ games that the only ones I really end up buying are new releases that I'm hyped for. I'll always prefer physical when I can, unless there's a deep sale on a digital version. Mainly just because of how terrible game preservation is. Although honestly I rarely go back and play games.
