In reference to the Georgia RICO case, Fani Willis started her investigation in February 2021. I think the biggest problem with the length of time for her was the large number of people involved and many of them were uncooperative targets or witnesses. Some of them being current elected officials in Georgia, even.

In the classified documents case, I can't remember when the investigation started, but Judge Cannon added months of delay in the criminal investigation phase on her own by improperly stepping in and assigning a special master. After about 3 or 4 months, the 11th circuit court of appeals ended her shenanigans. Then she got assigned to the criminal trial and who knows if that trial is actually going to start in May.
