So much of it is.

Most of the major legacy/corporate news has slashed their journalism budget, fired the real journalists, and rely on the same wire services for much of their content now, not too different from what independent media "on Youtube" do...

And then so much of the cable news cycle is talking heads with clear partisan agendas spouting opinion in short segments that are defined by shouting each other down noisily.
