Maybe places like Costa Del Sol take way longer due to the mechanics at play, but I never felt that inconvenienced. Then again, after Infinite Wealth, I swore off doing side bullshit for a while. Dondoko Island was cool, but Sujimon's Discreet Four quests just ate away at me. Well, that and deciding to do nearly all the substories as soon as things got unlocked.
