Whether you think those actions are bad enough to take these actions over, that's a difference of opinion. This attitude that if someone is generally "on your side" you should give them a pass is how you get stuck supporting increasingly terrible lawmakers. Everyone should be held accountable for everything they do wrong, no matter how "good" they generally are.
