I'm trying to understand what the point of the topic statement is. The only context in which I could see anyone seriously trying to use it as some sort of argument against something would be a pro-abortionist trying to claim that we only celebrate birthdays specifically because life doesn't count/begin prior to that point.

The thing is, that actually has nothing to do with why we celebrate birthdays instead of conception days. We do that because we can easily tell when someone's birthday is, whereas loads of people have no idea exactly when they conceived their kid. Some people can (somehow) go for months without even realizing they're pregnant. Therefore, if that's the argument being made, it's kind of a bad one.
