Been putting into it for over 20 years. Zero inheritance or old money. I grew up poor and my folks never had anything, so its all been self built-up over many years. I bought my first home in 2005, then went through the housing crash of 08-12. Net worth was definitely negative for most of that time when the property was underwater.
